why upbringing matter

A child’s "success" in life is often more tied to their EQ than their IQ. Upbringing should include "Emotional Coaching":
Labeling: Help them name the feeling (e.g., "It looks like you're feeling frustrated").
Validation: Let them know it’s okay to feel that way, even if the behavior (like hitting) isn't okay.
Problem Solving: Once calm, brainstorm together how to handle the feeling next time

Upbringing isn't just about the individual; it’s about their place in the world.
Tradition & Ritual: Consistent family rituals (Sunday dinners, holiday traditions) provide a sense of belonging and "roots."
Autonomy Support: As children grow, a healthy upbringing slowly shifts from directing to consulting. Giving them age-appropriate choices builds the confidence they need to leave the nest.

It’s important to remember the concept of the "Good Enough Parent" (introduced by D.W. Winnicott). You don't need to be perfect. In fact, failing occasionally and then repairing the relationship teaches children that mistakes can be fixed and relationships are resilient.
